Psalm 39:4, “LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered—how fleeting my life is.”

The reading from the “One Year Bible” today is full of glimpses of God. Just like we are surrounded by God’s handiwork, all we have to do is look around us to be blessed by what God has made for us. The Bible is God’s Word, and speaks His Truths into the lives of those who read it. Are you reading God’s Words and gaining an understanding of Who He is, and what He is saying to you?

Our verse today comes to us from Psalms and is a realization of just how fast our lives are moving toward eternity. Our time here is short, and God reminds us that we have very few days to be Who He calls us to be. Reading the Bible “reminds me how brief my time on earth will be.” This is one way God helps us keep focused on Him and others. “My days are numbered—how fleeting my life is.” Are you using each moment moving toward God or are many of your moments going by so fast, that you are actually moving away from God? Verse 5 of Psalm 39 says, “You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath.” Does this truth encourage you to focus on God and His plan for you, or to worry about what you can accomplish for yourself before your time here is gone?

In the New Testament reading, today, Jesus sent His disciples out into the world on a mission. Mark 6:12 says, “So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God.“ God is telling you and me today, our time here is short, make the best of it for Him, tell everyone you meet that Christ forgives sin, and calls us to Him, fully focused and engaged to reflect Him to the world He has given us. Our time is short, our calling is clear……. Hate Sin…… Love others….. and do it NOW!
